What are the steps to start a divorce in Spain?

Your ID or passport is enough to report. If you have them, medical reports, messages, injury reports or witnesses help, but they are never a requirement. If you have nothing, you can still report.

You can ask the same court to enforce the ruling and, depending on how serious it is, report the breach. The important thing is to record each incident with dates so it can be proven.

Since the 2021 reform, Spanish law no longer speaks of incapacitation but of support measures that respect the person's wishes. They are requested through a court procedure with medical and social reports, and are adapted to the level of support the person actually needs.
